Alice and Austin spend a lot of their time together writing and performing music. For our shoot, they really wanted to get some photos in their home jam space.
Before we started the shoot, I suggested we go for a little stroll around the beautiful North Vancouver neighbourhood. There was a cute park near by and some luscious green trails. I ended up converting a lot of the images to black and white because the light was so soft and beautiful, I felt it had to be highlighted.
I played around with some slow shutter speeds on my camera in order to make some painterly and impressionistic images but that wasn’t the only way I got creative on this shoot. I also had some experimental film loaded in my Leica 35mm camera and managed to squeeze in a few shots with that too!
Alice and Austin are a beautiful couple and were so fun to work with. When a couple is down to be playful and entertain ideas, it makes for a far more genuine shoot. My goal with these shoots is to try and give the couples some photos that allow them to see themselves in a way that they never have before. I want them to have photos that they cherish forever and think we succeeded here.
