When couples reach out for a shoot, we always try and find something that is meaningful and unique to them. This makes for a shoot that is easy for everyone. It gives the couple something to do and helps get rid of their “in front of the camera" fear while allowing us to document them naturally, instead of posing every single photo.
For Cristina and Jakub this meant making pasta and dancing in the kitchen of their new home in Burnaby. They warmed up soooo quick and we got a ton of great photos.

We had a blast during the shoot and all of the indoor stuff was shot digitally on a Fujifilm X100vi.
Once we were done with that, I suggested we go for a stroll and check out the new neighbourhood and I switched to shooting some Kodak Tri-X on my Leica M-A.

We ended up walking over to Taylor Park and after getting some photos there, I suggested they play on the swings for a bit. Not the most adult thing to do and maybe not something that is “meaningful” to them but it did do a great job bringing out the inner child.

After the swings, we headed to a nearby bench and they soaked up some serious sun. The next photo was the last on my roll of film and of our session.

(Fun fact: I developed the roll of film at home and managed to include the film photos in their sneak peek. Being able to develop film at home allows our turn around times on film to be as fast as digital!)
